Opened in 1898, the Carnegie Library of Homestead was the second of three libraries given to the Steel Valley by Andrew Carnegie. The facility reflects Carnegie’s values of physical and spiritual health as well as education. The facility sits on a hilltop overlooking the site of the Pinkerton landing during the Homestead Steel Strike of 1892.
The Carnegie Library of Homestead includes a Music Hall, Library, and Athletic Club. Designed in the French Renaissance style, it sits on a hillside overlooking the great expanse of the former location of Andrew Carnegie's Homestead Steel Works along the Monongahela River.
